All is NOT lost

The world seems as though it's in a spiral, doesn't it? Kids are now identifying as cats and 'furries' and our kids are going to school with litter boxes in the bathrooms.... are they eating cat food at lunch? I have SO many questions.... but the first is, where are the parents? Are they entertaining this nonsense? Obviously, because it's happening.

I read a statistic a few years ago about the man in the house being a Christian, something about a husband and father who attends church regularly their kids are 90% more likely to become Christians and raise their kids in church. The flip side was that fathers who aren't, their kids are less than 10% likely to become Christians. THIS is where the breakdown is happening. Where are the parents?

Our kids deserve better. Our kids need Sunday school. In my deepest, darkest times, even growing up in church, I knew there was a different way, I just chose to ignore it for 15 years. Many of our kids today don't know there's another option and this, my friends is terrifying for our future generations. We need to step up. Kids are not cats and men are not women. I saw a meme this week that said, not all pregnant people are women.... ummmm, I'm sorry, are you flipping KIDDING me?! Where did we go wrong?

Ya'll this is creepy shit, I ain't gonna lie, but lemme give you a piece of HOPE, scripture tells us that there is nothing new under the sun.... and scripture is God's living Word so you can trust and believe that while there probably weren't kids running around meowing or doing weird crap at school for an ounce of attention, there were still hooky things going on. Like, all the time. So, take heart! He has already won; we need not fear. God is STILL in control.

Our kids need church, they need love, they need to be told the Truth about Jesus and His overwhelming love for us, that when scripture says we shouldn't fit in, that it didn't mean, wear a tail to school for attention. But how do we overcome? How do we teach our kids today about acceptance and love your neighbor when your neighbor's tail is wagging in your face? Well, as tricky as it can be, we love them as Jesus does.

Do you catch a consistent message from these blogs? Love is always the answer. We love our spouses unconditionally (I hope) we have to love our kitty cat neighbors the same way, even if we know it's wrong. Let's start inviting their parents over for dinner and showing them, not preaching to them about what love is. So, when they say, why do you treat us so well when the world doesn't, you can tell them about the love of Jesus. THAT is how we change the world.

Our kids need to be heard. They need to be loved. They need us to put down our freaking phones, take theirs away and listened to. I'll never forget sitting across a booth from some dude and his adorable little boy, years ago, and he stared at his phone while the boy, probably four years old was doing anything naughty he could to get his dad's attention. NO! This is NOT OK! Put your f'ing phone DOWN already. Man that in-freaking-FURIATES me to no end! Technology is breaking up the family unit, I don't care if you agree with me or not, it IS. Social Media is great for so many things and it is what you make it, but SO many people just suck the fun right out... don't be a fun sucker. We've got to be in the moment, spend good QT with our kids and our kid's friends because you may be the only source of Jesus they ever get.

Jesus is love. Pure and Simple. His message is clear, love your neighbor, and go make disciples. That's it folks. Our kids need better, they deserve better. If we don't train them up in the ways of the Lord, their kitty cat school mates will and it's just not cute on anyone.
