Do you believe the lies you tell yourself?

Every day there is a battle in our brain, good and evil, right and wrong, to do or not to do... how do we determine what is truth and what isn't? I read 'Battlefield of the Mind' by Joyce Meyer after a breakup last year and it couldn't have been placed in my life at a better time, can you say 'divine intervention?' I think so. Joyce talks about 'mind-binding spirits.' These are the evil thoughts we think every day that hold us back from truly living the life God planned for us. God is omni-present, what does that mean? It means He is everywhere, all the time. The devil isn't that powerful so he has these evil or min-binding spirits he sends to do his bidding and if we're not careful they'll take over every thought we have. But there are also the thoughts we place in our own heads; shame, doubt, fear, things that happened to us that come to the surface if we don't make time to heal from them. What do you need to heal from? I've suffered from anxiety and depression off and on since I was raped almost 20 years ago. So I get the mental illness game, I've been fortunate enough to be off meds for 12 years now, I've learned prayer is a MUCH more powerful tool.
So, how do we actually CHANGE the conversation in our heads? I start every day with prayer, before I look at my phone (most days) I sit in my prayer chair, yes, that's a thing, and I pray. I pray for things I'm grateful for that I have already been blessed with and things I hope to be blessed with. I pray for our country, our president, my team and fit family, I pray for those hurting and struggling and I pray for the people I struggle to like. Then I read a bible study, then my personal development book. Right now I'm reading 'Dare to Lead' by Brene Brown, she's an amazing woman who has helped me overcome the shame of my past. Then I read my bible or scripture. Then I write out my goals, plan my day and repeat Out Loud affirmations, YES, they have to be OUT LOUD. You have to put out in to the universe what you want so God can bring those things to you. Sounds hinky, but by golly, it WORKS!
You have the POWER every day to create the conversation you have with yourself and those around you. You can choose joy, even in the crap times of your life. You have the strength and grace to be the kind of person that can truly change the world. Yes, little old you. We are all put here for a purpose, if you're breathing, you have purpose. God needs you to focus on Him, His Truth and put those lies to bed. When negative thoughts creep in to my life I say out loud (are you seeing a theme here?) 'I REBUKE YOU IN JESUS' NAME.'
'RESIST THE DEVIL AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.' What do you want your kids to say to themselves? Do you want them to be confident, loving and full of grace and forgiveness? Of course you do, so what are you teaching them by not giving it to yourself? Your teaching them to not give it to themselves. So, change the convo. You have the power to break every crap cycle that has been passed to you, from family, a previous relationship or job. YOU HAVE THE POWER. So, get your ass out there and be the change! Ghandi said something like that... I just put my own spin on it. In Jesus name! Now Go!
