Fear is the devil placing doubt in your mind. But do you know that you CAN overcome and retrain your brain to recognize fear and beat it! We get to CHOOSE our thoughts, do you even realize the power of that? It is SO easy to think, I'm fat, lazy, I'll never accomplish my goals.' What are you afraid of? Failure. Vulnerability. Love. Relationships. Changing jobs. Being successful (yes, this is a fear people have.) What are you afraid of and how can you start today to retrain your brain to think different thoughts?
I'm reading 'Telling yourself the Truth,' it practices misbelief therapy, which is the study of recognizing our fears and facing them. So misbelief is replacing, I am dumb, with Thank you Lord for giving me intelligence. Replacing 'I am unattractive' with 'Thank you Lord for making me attractive. Our self-talk is VITAL to our success in life. Turn 'I have no talent' into 'Lord, thank you for the talents you've given me.' 'I'm poor.' to 'Thank you Lord for prospering me.'
CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY. Sticks and stones will break your bones but your words will hurt you worse. This is how the saying 'should've' gone. How you speak to yourself directly correlates to how you speak to others and how those who look up to you learn to speak to themselves. Who's looking up to you? Your kids, nieces and nephews, students?
Speak truth. Speak life. Speak LOVE to yourself so you can speak it to others. Do not be afraid of losing or failing or loving or getting hurt. Be afraid of what will happen if you don't take a risk and live full of regret. Because that thing you're so afraid of, may very well be the thing God has planned for your life and you'll just continue to waste more time.
Life is short. Put your fear aside and GO BIG. Go big for Jesus because He gave EVERYTHING for us, HIS LIFE. He was beaten, humiliated and suffocated so that we may live free. It is our Moral & Ethical OBLIGATION to live a successful life, in Jesus' name so that we can bless those who need it and who have blessed us.
Read your bible daily, read what it says about fear. Read personal development on how to overcome fear. Daring Greatly by Brene Brown was a game-changer for me. Vulnerability IS courage, doing the hard thing IS COURAGE. 'Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will be With you, WHEREVER You GO!' Find encouragement in that!
