Routine is key

I know that when God called me to step up my discipline I had to establish a routine. And while I'm less than perfect, I'd give myself a solid 67% I'm 100% better than I used to be. I don't know about the rest of the world, but most days I'm like a squirrel on crack if left to my own devices. One thing I've started adding to my pryer life is asking God to guide my day. By the time I've asked for this and the wisdom and knowledge to be obedient to His call each day, He's planted at least some kind of a seed as to what I need to do first. One thing I've been trying (and mostly failing) to do lately is touch base with Him at 2 pm. Of course, I TRY, to talk to Him through the day, but as any fleshy human, I fail by 2pm most days. Of course, He knows this about us and His usual request for me is 'obedience' not perfection, it's effort over nailing it, He still gives those nudges, you just have to ask for them then be willing to obedient, which for most of us, is the true struggle.
We listen to a lot of Charles Stanley at home, he got us through covid and now we watch him a lot on the weekends, even still going to church. This past week I listened to his Compass sermon, talking about the Bible being our compass to everyday living. I want to share a few things he said that really stuck with me. He talked about how God will never call us to something He doesn't equip us for, and isn't that amazing?! If you feel a call to a certain job or ministry or relationship, HE WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU NEED. Yet we try to rely so much on our own strength when God clearly wants to be our sole provider.
The other thing he said that about smacked me off the couch was that to deny Him is to say you don't believe Him, he continued on to say, well, we say that we would NEVER say that to God, but, Charlie said, ARE YOU READY FOR IT?... 'but our ACTIONS SHOUT IT TO HIM.'
Our disobedience says we don't trust Him.
But that is true my friend, and I BEG you to not only lean into that Holy Spirit prompt in your life, but to truly connect with Him the way He desires, then OBEY the call. So many of us feel a call and run the other way, and that is SHOUTING to God that we don't trust Him to carry us through. Do you actually trust Him? Do you believe what He says about you? Do you KNOW that He will give you everything you need?
He will NEVER leave us or forsake us, and He gave us the Bible as a compass to every decision we make. I find true HOPE in that and I hope you do too.
What is the call He's placed in your life that you continue to avoid? How can you prayerfully discern a step that He would have you take in the right direction? How can you step past that fear and trust that His call is relevant and your abilities are enough. He comes through where we fall short, and that's the point. Believe it. Know it. Trust His plan.
