Last week I attended the funeral for the 22-month-old son of a longtime friend of mine, can we talk about devastating.... there are no words to express the sincere pain I feel in every part of my being for the family of this beautiful boy. During the celebration of his life, my former pastor and friend was talking about the power of our thought life; we can wonder about why it happened, what happened, how will we survive this tragedy or we can fully trust, that while God doesn't bring bad in to our lives, we live in a fallen world and bad things do happen, to the best of people.

So, let's talk about your thoughts. Let's talk about my thoughts; have you ever held a baby and pictured yourself dropping him to the ground or the thought of running over your dog or just the weird shit that goes on in our brains constantly, that sometimes make you feel like you should be in the looney bin? Yea, we all have them. BUT, herein lies the difference to what actually happens to you. When you take those negative thoughts, the self doubt and shame and fear and tragedy; the what's and why's and how's, and give them to God before spouting negativity out of your mouth, He takes it. He heals it. He overcomes that evil with good.

Do you know then, what happens, when you spout shit out of your mouth, negativity about your body or others or self-shaming thoughts? Do you know what ACTUALLY happens? Do you know how POWERFUL those words actually are? Do you know that the devil is sneaking around trying to de-freaking-VOUR every part of good in your life and in the world? He is. He's a real dick that way and when you let that negativity seep out of your face, he snatches it RIGHT up and holds it against you for a LIFETIME. Your thoughts are POWERFUL, but only God hears them, your WORDS, as related to those thoughts, the ones that come out of your mouth, THOSE are what the devil clings to. When you pray, he flees, when you spout negativity or call yourself fat or ugly, you'll never find a man or the job or make more money, he craves that, he lives for it. Because in the moments where you start to feel like you're doing well in life, you're making progress, you're becoming 'better' he reminds you of all that BS you spouted before and holds it over you like a the manipulative bastard he is. DON'T LET HIM WIN. Change the conversation, CHANGE YOUR LIFE BELOVED.

The enemy seeks to kill and DESTROY and our country today is EVIDENCE that it is truth. People are NOT evil, it's giving in to their thoughts and speaking evil that brings more evil to them and when they don't know Jesus or have the POWER of the Holy Spirit and KNOW how to take those thoughts CAPTIVE and turn them to Christ, evil compounds and compounds and pretty soon we're bashing each other on social media thinking we're going to make a difference.

CHANGE THE CONVERSATION IN YOUR HEAD so what comes out of your mouth is good and righteous and loving and kind and forgiving and gentle and controlled. Heath repeated 2 Corinthians 5:10, 'TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE AND MAKE IT OBEDIENT TO CHRIST.' Did you actually just read that or did you skim right past it? Take EVERY thought CAPTIVE and MAKE IT OBEDIENT to Christ.' Every thought, so that every word spews LOVE. My friends, this world is SICK, people are claiming Christianity and speaking against biblical truth, they're manipulating scripture to make it something it isn't so they can justify sin or appease the masses. KNOW the Word, put it inside your heart and cling to it. Pray without ceasing, LOVE your neighbor, even if you disagree, anything negative that comes to mind, pray over it. 'Father take this from me. That's it, you don't have to make it a drop to your knees kinda thing, but you DO need to take those thoughts captive. Depression is NOT of God, anxiety and worry and fear are NOT of God. I have OCD, so I count, stupid I know, but I do, and I know that when I'm doing it a lot, my mind is overwhelmed even if I don't feel it. I've got to, in those moments, say Father, take this from me. Thy will be done Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:10, practice it, memorize it, will you? 'Take EVERY thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.' I felt convicted to preach at our fit fam a bit yesterday, so I'm going to share it with you. I should've got dressed, I know, but I didn't, so it is what it is. I'm taking that captive and giving it to God.

Where do you struggle with this most? Will you commit to in the moment giving those thoughts to Him?
